Spares for cars are available all over South Africa, but how do you know which is the best for your needs?

There are 4 types of spares for cars

New Spares(original) / OEM spares

New spares are originals that are built into your brand new car. These are available through the manufacturer and are very expensive. This does not make them the best just because of the cost.

OEM parts (Original Equipment Manufacturer) are built the same as genuine parts, with the auto manufacturers stamp of approval on it. Many will believe that these parts are best as they cost less than the original part.

Aftermarket Parts

These parts are made by a company other than the original manufacturer. These companies have purchased the rights to manufacture parts for certain cars. They alter slightly to OEM parts, but they are still just as good as OEM parts – and cheaper.

Refurbished Parts

These parts differ from rebuilt parts in the method of treatment before they are sold. They are dismantled, cleaned and modified. Sparesboyz takes great care in their quality tests before selling refurbished parts.

Used parts

Used parts are cheaper than all the others listed above. It is suitable when replacing parts that do not break too fast, such as:

  • Door panels
  • Handles
  • moldings

we suggest that you stay away from used parts when replacing parts that are related to safety or performance.

So now that you are armed with the differences, you can make the right choice. If you are not sure, give us a call and we will advise.
