thinkgreenSparesboyz is Green are You?

Well, I always thought that when a company mentioned that they are environmentally friendly, I always thought to myself …Ozone layer ..this one’s for you but I did not realize that there are so many diverse ways in order to recycle your motor vehicle. Each and every part of your car can be put to better use, even the parts you never thought of as being recyclable or reusable! The lives of certain car parts can be extended longer than you ever thought possible!

Engines & Transmissions
Engines and transmissions can go on and on again! Engines and transmissions are dismantled and cleaned, reconditioned, and resold. The same goes for doors and bumpers.

Depending on tread depth and a visual inspection, tires can be reused and recycled. Worn tires can be recycled by shredding and cleaning them and processing them into other products such as asphalt, playground surfaces.

Starters & Alternators
Didn’t know that your starter or alternator could be so important? Starters and alternators can be removed and resold or sent for remanufacturing, if needed. Approximately 86% of a vehicle’s material content is recycled, reused or used for energy recovery!

Water Pumps
Are you surprised that water pumps can also be remanufactured or rebuilt? Most car parts will not go to waste!

Gas Tanks
Gas tanks can be removed from a vehicle and resold. The gas can be drained for reuse, along with coolant and windshield washer fluid.

Vehicle Recycling Makes A Difference
Recycling vehicles can provide enough steel to produce almost 13 million new automobiles.

Sparesboyz we recycle and re-use every part of a vehicle.
Bumper to bumper, the vehicle is stripped and parts are sold at an affordable price.
Oil is drained and stored in large eco-friendly bins which is picked up by the Rose Foundation and disposed of accordingly. The ROSE Foundation has been working hard to ensure that the following issues are highlighted far and wide across South Africa and Sparesboyz is proud to be associated with them:

  • ROSE stands for Recycling Oil Saves the Environment.
  • ROSE is a Non-Profit Company and also registered as a Public Benefit Organisation in South Africa.
  • It manages the environmentally acceptable collection, storage and recycling of used lubricating oil in South Africa.

Every part thereafter that is stripped at Sparesboyz Durban, Sparesboyz Johannesburg and Sparesboyz Capetown serves a purpose of being reused or recycled in some form or the other. We strive to make sure our customers and our environment are in safe hands.
