🌧️ STAY SAFE ON WET ROADS WITH MALUME JOHN’S ADVICE 🚗
John Hunt, fondly known as “Malume John”, and the man heading up The Boyz Group, recently shared some valuable advice in his latest interview on Vuma FM.
With heavy rain — and even snow in parts of the country — motorists need to take extra care on the roads. 🌧️❄️
According to Malume John, there are three major concerns when driving in heavy rain:
🔹 AQUAPLANING
When water builds up underneath your tyres, your vehicle can lose traction and control. Slow down and avoid sudden steering or braking.
🔹 REDUCED BRAKING EFFICIENCY
Wet brakes aren’t as effective, which is why you should increase your following distance and allow yourself more time to stop.
And don’t forget about those HIDDEN POTHOLES! 😬
Standing water can completely disguise the depth of a pothole. Hitting a large pothole can damage your wheels and tyres and even throw your wheel alignment out.
🔹 POOR VISIBILITY
Worn windscreen wipers can make visibility considerably worse in heavy rain. When you can’t see clearly, it’s easy for fear and panic to set in — so make sure your wipers are up to the job.
🔹 ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS
Heavy rain and moisture can find their way into vehicle wiring and electrical components, potentially causing a range of problems — particularly during the extreme weather we’ve been experiencing.
