Kommetjie
Kommetjie is a small town near Cape Town, in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The area is a popular surfing spot due to powerful waves from the Atlantic Ocean and is famous for its excellent crayfishing. Powerful waves resulting from the Atlantic Ocean that rise up over rocky reefs formed by hard sandstones of the Table Mountain Group and giant kelp forests are found in shallower waters where the ocean bottom is rocky. Kommetjie is famous for its excellent crayfishing. The town boasts the Slangkop Lighthouse which stands about 33 meters tall. The lighthouse has been around since 1919. Kommetjie forms part of the fynbos community where there are some of the rarest and most sought after plants and of which are threatened by numerous Australian alien plants imported in 1800s.
